The inverted cross, the pentagram, the image of Baphomet and many other symbols … do they all belong to the Evil One and its practices? How much is truly satanic in some signs? … Are there so many symbols of Evil around us? ?
Satan, the demons and the practices linked to the dark kingdom proper of these beings, have their own symbolism as well as the Egyptian gods, the figures of the Catholic imaginary or of any other religion. However, some of these symbols are really satanic, while others are not such but in the light of ignorance and / or religious fanaticism that often distorts elements of other religions or paganism.
The list of these symbols is really extensive, and among the indisputable should be included to the sigils of the different demons, but these are so many that they should be treated as a separate issue, so that here we ignore and attend to the main signs satanic, real or false.
inverted cross
This symbol comes from the inverted form in which Saint Peter, the first pope, died crucified. It is because of this that in the Vatican there is an armchair with this cross, but the Satanists give it a completely different meaning, using it to mock Christ and to represent the opposite character that his doctrine has with respect to that of the Nazarene.
Ankha
It represents the rituals of fertility and the spirit linked to the power of union of the masculine (straight line of the cross) and the feminine (circle). Also known as “the Egyptian cross” or “the cross that is tied”, it symbolizes eternal life and is associated with air and water as life-bearing elements. For that reason it was considered as “the key of life” and it was used as an amulet. Clearly the ankha can only be considered a satanic symbol from the religious fanaticism that demonizes everything related to pagan cults and other religions, whose gods are usually taken, in this line of fanatical thought, as if it were demons.
Triquetra
There is some controversy with this symbol, since from the Middle Ages it was used to represent the Holy Trinity; but, wandering in his past, we have symbolized the Triple Goddess, composed of the Mother, the Virgin and the Old Witch. This last meaning is taken by the current New Age cult of the Aquarius Conspirators, and even appears on the cover of The Book of Shadows, linked to witchcraft and therefore to Satanism.
Italian horn
It was introduced by the druids of Scotland and Ireland and is associated with good luck and economic good fortune. Because of this, and because of its pagan origin, many Christians believe that it represents a way of giving Satan control of his own finances, to obtain prosperity with his help …
Staff
The pentagram is associated with the elements of air, earth, fire and water, surrounded by the spirit. Actually it is a symbol of pagan origin, but Christianity distorted its interpretation, saying that the water represented Leviathan, the air to Lucifer, the fire to Satan and the earth to Belial, so the pentagram was consequently a symbol of El Mal, a hellish element used by witches, regardless of whether it was black or white magic because, in the fanatical look, any form of magic is a manifestation of the Devil.
Inverted staff
This symbol really is satanic, since it is used mostly in rituals of black magic and satanism, in addition to its inverted character is a form of allusion to the head of ram, which is the symbol of Baphomet. Like the normal pentagram but in this case the Christian interpretation is not in doubt, the four elements represent the four great infernal princes named above; and, on the other hand, it is said that the five points refer to the five great purposes of Satan, enunciated from the decomposition of a fragment of Isaiah that says: << I will ascend to heaven; on high, next to the stars of God, / I will raise my throne, and / on the mount of the testimony I will sit, / on the north sides; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, / And I will be like the Most High. >>
Image of Baphomet
This is one of the most indisputable indiscriminate satanic symbols. It is briefly believed that it represents the hermetic principle of “as it is above, it is below”. It also alludes to the union between the fallen angels and the daughters of men, mentioned in Genesis 6; and, as can be seen in its mix of feminine and masculine traits, it represents the androgynous, magic, sexuality, life, and personal enlightenment achieved in the context of occult practices. Now, this symbolic image has been used by Rosicrucians and Freemasons, and partly because of that they have been accused of Satanism; however, we should remember the original meaning that the nineteenth-century French occultist, Eliphas Levi, intended to give him when he wrote: << The goat, on the cover, bears the sign of the five-pointed star on the forehead, with a dot the upper part, a symbol of light, with both hands forming the sign of hermeticism, which points to the white moon of Chesed, the other down to the black of Geburah. This sign expresses the perfect harmony of mercy with justice. One of his arms is female, the other male; as one of the androgynes of Khunrath, attributes of which he had to join those of the goat, because he is one and the same symbol. The flame of intelligence shines among its horns, it is the magical light of universal balance; the image of the soul raised above matter, as the flame, while tied to matter, shines above it. The ugly head of the beast expresses the horror of the sinner, whose material action is part, the only responsible has to endure the punishment exclusively, because the soul is insensitive according to its nature and can only suffer when materialized. The standing rod, instead of the genitals, symbolizes eternal life, the body covered with scales the water, the semicircle above it the atmosphere, the feathers above the volatility. Humanity is represented by the two breasts and the androgynous arms of that sphinx the occult sciences. >>
Anarchy
Anarchy is a political ideology that proposes a society without any authority, without laws or rules. Therefore, it is considered a utopia, since such a society would only be viable in the absence of evil. Now, the sign of anarchy is often used by rockers and punkers to represent their rebellious attitude and, as religion sacralizes the value of obedience in the context of the search for good, demonizes the revelion and therefore anarchy as an attitude which, by proposing the abolition of norms, is really incompatible with the Christian morality of commandments, at least from a certain point of view.
Udjat
It is really the Eye of Horus and is associated with magic, having connotations of protection, purification, knowledge, perfection and stability. However, it is known that it is also used as the Eye of God, to represent the enlightened and imperturbable consciousness of the Creator, so it usually appears shining and in a triangle (the triangle is stability, wisdom). But, for the fanatics, it is the Eye of Lucifer and it alludes to the world order that it wants to establish and that, if you look at it, it appears on the dollar bill, above the pyramid.
